Sankara Nethralaya’s Teleophthalmology community service depends largely on the goodwill of benevolent individuals and organizations’ donations. A lot of corporates, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, have lent support to Sankara Nethralaya teleophthalmology outreach camps.

Sankara Nethralaya’s teleophthalmology bus covers rural areas in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Traveling to rural areas poses many challenges to our team — irregular power supply, limited human resources, high fuel cost, to name a few. Our teleophthalmology van consists of state-of-the-art equipment and thereby ensures that rural patients undergo a comprehensive ophthalmic examination, which is on a par with the examination that paying patients undergo at the base hospital.

The teleophthalmology camp ensures that good quality spectacles are given at a subsidized rate or free of cost (Donations) to the poor patients. At our teleophthalmology camps, we provide patients with well-framed and quality spectacles that cost Rs. 700 per adult.

Any amount will help us in providing free spectacles for poor patients.

The cost of one spectacle per patient – Rs. 700

Support spectacles for 10 patients – Rs. 7,000
Support spectacles for 50 patients – Rs. 35,000
Support spectacles for 100 patients – Rs. 70,000
