SPECTACLES FOR POOR PATIENTS

The teleophthalmology camp ensures that good quality spectacles at a subsidised rate are given to poor patients. Providing patients with well-framed and quality lens spectacles costs approximately between Rs. 300 and Rs. 350; at our teleophthalmology camp such spectacles are provided to indigent patients for Rs. 100. We humbly solicit your support in helping us in this endeavour.

ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS

The Electronic Medical Records serves to facilitate easy access of patients’ medical records by specialists at the main hospital. This ensures that a senior consultant’s advice, if the need be, is made available at the time of entry of the patients. Implementing the EMR is of extreme significance in today’s health sector. While we have been able to implement it at the main hospital, we are yet to use them in our teleophthalmology camps due to the high costs it involves. Each laptop, with a configuration to support the transfer of ophthalmic data with images from the campsite to the main hospital, costs approximately Rs. 45, 000. We need at least six laptops (Rs.2, 70,000) for each mobile unit; we have five such units in four States and the total cost for purchasing the required laptops amounts to Rs.13, 50,000.
